Snow!

It finally snowed and stayed on the ground. I took Matthew outside after dinner to play in the snow. I showed him the finer things of snow such as throwing it, eating it, making tracks in it, letting the snowflakes fall on your tongue, building mini-snowmen and smashing them to pieces. He loved it. This picture is of him eating the snow which turned out to be his favorite part about snow. (Maybe I should teach him about yellow snow...) I took more pictures but they didn't turn out--ISome snowflakes must have fallen on the lens which made the rest of the pictures blurry.

Are you ready?

Witin the past week Jeremy and I have become a part of the craze that is American Gladiators. We started watching it one night when we were bored and there was nothing else on TV so we watched a couple of episodes on nbc.com. I wasn't so sure about the show at first--I did watch it when I was younger when it was the only thing on television on Saturday afternoons. And then there are the contestants and their trash-talking. I almost feel dumber for having listened to their stupid remarks, especially that hill-billy from Tennessee who practiced for the show by wrassling hogs and scampering up trees to hide from his mom who was gonna give him a whippin'. I guess the show is kind of a guilty pleasure where you really wouldn't admit to others that you watch it. I was telling Jeremy that I feel like white trash when I watch it because it's like Moto-Cross with all of the flashing lights and Hulk Hogan as a host. But I think that secretly everyone would like to take on Titan , Helga or the Elliminator just to see what it's like.

Virginia Living Museum

This is Matthew being a nice big brother--it doesn't happen often and I was able to catch it on camera.

We have a membership to the Virginia Living Museum which is nearby where we live. It is nice to be able to take the kids on days where we're tired of being indoors or just need a break.
It has animals that are native to VA including fish, foxes, wolves, deer, birds, turtles, alligators, and even sharks! Matthew loves to go and briefly look at the animals as he runs by.

Here he is checking out the sharks and sea turtle.

National Zoo

We went to DC for New Year's Eve and spent the 31st at the Smithsonian National Zoo. Matthew's favorite exhibit was by far the butterfly exhibit. It was a greenhouse room with flowers and lots of butterflies flying around. We caught this butterfly midair flying at Matthew. It is a great zoo for anyone who wants to go--there were so many animals that we didn't get to see them all before it was time to go home for naps. It's free too--you only have to pay to park.
